THE GOLDEN AGE ENCAMPMENT
Pelham Beach, Hastings (Saturday 18th July – Saturday 19th July)
The crew of the Phoenix is a Living History group who spend a good deal of time researching and bringing to life the time of the Golden Age Of Piracy – 1695 – 1725.
We are not pirates – we are a strictly legitimate, tax free, import and export trading company. And any suggestion of improper or illegal activity be it sea bourne or on the shores of England are vicious slanders and lies!
We aim to present many walks of life from the time of the reign of Queen Anne and then George I. We do have ragged sailors who are well armed, but we are often accompanied by Marine soldiers and many civilians, from cooks to washerwomen, and surgeons to the local squire.
We can often be found in our tavern – The Ship Ashore or Cookie’s Coffee shop. Life in the early 18th century is dangerous and we always come well prepared, our swords and guns are never far away. SO make sure you come and find us and find out about life in the 18th Century and the ‘real’ pirates of the Caribbean
