BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES, THE VOYAGE WILL GO ON!

A note from the Captain…

The event will be spread over a weekend – from Saturday 15th July through to Sunday 16th July – with pirate fun for everyone in our town’s pubs, venues and attractions. The Great Buccaneers Procession leaves the Town Centre at Noon on Sunday heading for the Old Town. There will then be live music at the Stade along with Blackbeards Market, Food (Hog Roast, Caribbean and Vegan) with side shows, pirate acts, storytelling, games and treasure hunts… some fantastic prizes too, and other surprises along the way.

We hope our brethren enjoy dressing up, and making more pirate memories in what the pirate capital of the world has to offer, and please donate generously to Captain Windsor’s voyage fund so we can continue into 2024.

YE PIRATE LABYRINTH, Pelham Beach, Hastings

Ye Pirate Labyrinth is being built on Pelham Beach for pirates old and young to process around its winding pathways down by the sea. Our Labyrinth design is based on the ancient unicursal seven circuit labyrinth, with one continuous pathway to the centre and the same pathway out (although there will be a quick exit from the centre for lazy pirates).
Along coastlines, fishermen would walk round before going to sea to guarantee a good catch and a safe return. Shepherds might use labyrinths in ritual for protection against wolves. There are references way back in the days of ancient Rome to ‘the mazes formed in the fields for the entertainment of children’.
Unlike the many mazes and labyrinths that are still being built all over the UK, the Hastings Pirate Labyrinth exists for just one day. So make the most of it! Within the labyrinth area there will be a spectacular DRUM-OFF between 2pm-2.30pm approx

****

PIRATE CANNON FIRE DEMONSTRATION, Pelham Beach, Hastings (3pm-3.30pm approx)

After the Labyrinth drum-off, come and see real cannon fire demonstration (weather permitting) by the Southern Skirmish Association who will be demonstrating with 2 cannons in a fantastic static display where you will be able to pose in your pirate regalia, take photos and make more great memories from Hastings Pirate Weekend 2023.
